Illuniverse.com by Camilo Bejarano

I recently submitted some illustration’s to Illuniverse.com a great (not so little) project by Camilo Bejarano. With 230 submissions so far this universe (like our own) is expanding at an incredible rate.

Camilo Bejarano is a UI Designer & Illustrator from West Palm Beach, Florida. Camilo has worked on projects that have appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Ad Age, Weekly Dig, Revista Colectiva, The Ark Project (IDN) & others.

Some of you may also know Camilo as @ph7labs if you are on twitter & want to get involved you should give him a follow.

I stumbled upon Camilo’s Illuniverse via Stephen Chan & I thought you know what, that sounds like fun. There have been some great submissions so far from well known artists like Tado, Dropix, Zutto, Bubble Friends & many more, I’ll let you discover which ones they’ve done for your selfs, that is half the fun after all!

Space Monkey - Planet of the Monkeys - Monkey Phantom Zone

If you want to get involved with the Illuniverse project too, all you have to do is produce an illustration of a  planet or star in your style & submit it through the Illuniverse website here. The size of the artboard should be 1″ x 1″ at 300dpi & in png format (transparent background).

Illuniverse has just been updated with a new look website, individual profile pages for each artist & an improved submissions area.

I thought I’d share some of things that inspire me first up is the work of Jaime Jones an illustrator & concept artist in the United States.

Jaime Jones has a long list of clients including Warner Bros., Paramount, Bungie, NCSoft, Blizzard, National Geographic, Penguin. You can check out more of his work on his website artpad.org.

Rise of the Monkey Online Shop - NOW OPEN!

Who’d have thought it Rise of the Monkey now has an Online Shop.
I know, right?

I’ve been working hard over the past year doing some illustrations and the like. I love sharing my work with you guys out there & have had some great feedback, advice & support. I finally thought hey why the hell not & put my work out there for you to buy.

To mark the launch of my new Online Shop, I thought I’d do a little competition.

So what’s the plan? I hear you ask…

I know there’s not much in the shop at the moment just my MechaHeart Poster that I produced earlier this year (MechaHeart Illustration) and some badges (you can see some pics below). I have a couple more illustrations that I’m working on at the moment that should be ready in the early part of 2012. I ‘d also like to do some Custom Vinyl Figures. I have a few blanks floating around & I’ve been toying with the idea for a while.

Just keep doing what I’m doing I guess. Working hard, trying to produce some more work that will hopefully be to your liking.

Badge Set 01

This year I will be attending my first designers conference, Flash on the Beach (FOTB) in Brighton, UK. It was something I had been thinking about for a while & after hearing everyone’s excitement whilst attending this year’s OFFF in Barcelona I thought what the heck, it’s about time I attended one.

I’m not really sure what to expect…

There’s an abundance of conferences out there, enough to make your head spin; SXSW, OFFF, dConstruct & Build to name just a few, not to mention it would cost a small fortune if you tried to attend them all.

I decided to look in to FOTB after hearing James White would be speaking (if you’ve ever seen his weekly SNBC show you’ll understand why), & that FOTB would take place in Brighton, UK giving me the opportunity to catch up with my old friend Paul Lloyd who I went to university with was an added bonus.

I’m mainly hoping to learn some new things, meet some interesting people & most of all have a bit of fun whilst doing it. The line up certainly has some draw with some of the top people in the industry from all around the globe.

James White - Signalnoise

I have been a follower of James White aka Signalnoise via his twitter feed & his weekly SNBC show, when I learned James would be making the trip to the UK to speak at this years FOTB it was just to much of an opportunity to miss, seeing someone talk so passionately about the work they do & one of the main reasosns I decided to attend this years FOTB.

Jon Burgerman

Jon Burgerman is a leading illustrator based in Nottingham, UK. His clever doodles have gained him some top clients including: Levis, Adidas, Pepsi & Miss Sixty.

Joshua Davis

Former pro skater Joshua Davis builds his own Flash-based programs to create intricate abstarct illustrations (that you just wouldn’t be able to do manually) for a variety of clients.

Jessica Hische

American letterer, illustrator, & self-described “avid internetter” Jessica Hische is probably best known for her intricate work with illustrated type.

Bradley G Munkowitz aka GMUNK

Bradley G Munkowitz aka GMUNK has worked on a whole host of  motion graphics including most recently TRON:Legacy. Although motion graphics isn’t an area I work in myself, but I will be interested in hearing how he approaches his projects.

An illustration I’ve been playing with for a while, I finally made some time to get it finished.

It’s a bit of a strange one, but it’s been floating around as an idea for a while now. I sketched it out towards the end of last year  and finally made some time to complete this personal illustration project. I’m really pleased with the way it’s turned out, I hope you like it too!

The finished illustration was completely vectored & coloured using Illustrator CS5.

Since the launch of the new site last week I have been working hard to add a blog section to  riseofthemonkeys.co.uk.  I will be posting lots of different things from personal projects, work in progress (WIP) to artists & designers that inspire me as well as cool events & happenings.

The blog is a work in progress, so I’m sure there will need to be a few glitches that need tweaking out, if there is please let me know & I’ll get it fixed ASAP.
